While the brackets are attached to the teeth with the help of glue and the arch wire keeps them supported, the main function is performed by the Orthodontic Power chains or the rubber band. They are the elastic material which grasps the arch wire to each bracket. These power chains or rubber bands are connected together in order to provide a gentle pressure to your teeth. They are fixed on each tooth and form a continuous band like structure from one tooth to the adjacent tooth. In some cases the dentist recommends the ligatures and in some cases these power chains are used. Both have the same effect, but they are used according to the requirement.
Why are the molar bands so important?
The Orthodontic Power chains also help in teeth removal if you would need that in the near future. The power chains are available in the market in different forms; in fact the ligature is also a form of a power chain. They are also present in various colors nowadays for those who want to flaunt their style; and those who want to keep it a secret that they are wearing braces.
The choices are many, but the one which you should go for or the one which will suit you the most should be decided by your dentist.
